Tyler,
Those league awards look like they could be pretty fun, but I just have a few questions about them (when don't I have questions?).
You may not have even decided how we're going to do it, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Are they going to be awarded to the real life winners (MVP, Cy Young, etc.), or are the winners going to be selected by you personally for this league, or are the winners going to be decided by some sort of committee, or are the winners going to be decided by an entire league vote that will probalby use a points system; e.g. each owner fills out a ballot ranking their top three at each position/award, 1st place is worth 5 points, 2nd place worth 3 points, and 3rd place worth 1 point (or some other point variation). The player(s) with the most points wins.
There could even be a method I haven't thought of yet, but those are the ones that first came to mind for me. If you haven't decided yet, that's fine, I just figured I'd ask to get it out of the way. They all have their pros and cons, so I don't have any particular preference.

Right now I just have a rough outline of how they will work in my mind, bu there is what I am thinking. Awards will be voted on by the league and I will most likely steal your point system. I figure we have plenty of time to figure this all out, but right now a point system like you described.

I guess I'll bump up this old thread not because I have a question, but because I have a couple of suggestions. You could maybe even call some of them complaints. I kind of like the idea of the league award voting process. However, I do have to admit there are a few things about how it was presented this year I didn't like.
First was the selection process. Selecting two from each list (or most lists anyway) seems like it could present a lot of problems. The awards posted in January has both an All League First Team and Second Team. I don't mind that at all, but the simple voting process opens up the possibility for multiple ties which could make assigning players to teams rather difficult. I admit I would prefer some kind of points system with each owner voting for a 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place finisher on their ballot. Rather than just selecting two players, this would force a voter to actually put them in order on which players they feel performed best. Since there are only 16 voters, I do think a 1st place = 3 points, 2nd place = 2 points, and 3rd place = 1 point system would work best than any other ones. That mostly applies to the position players anyway. For the pitchers, we may have to get a bit creative and mutate it a little bit for it to work properly. Perhaps just expanding to four or five votes and simply increasing the point total respectively would work. As far as the MVP voting goes, doing it MLB style might be best. Rather than having each voter choose one person they think deserve MVP (as that would have only 16 votes and we could potentially have 16 different MVPs or at least several different ones) each voter for MLB has to fill out of a list of 10 players ranking them 1-10. That again creates a point system in which we should be able to avoid any ties or any other problems. I understand some people may be lazy, but finding 10 candidates and writing them down in the order they choose shouldn't be hard for even them. This again would use a point system making where you rank them actually mean something.
Second thing I didn't like was the players that were listed in multiple positions. I understand certain players qualify for different positions, but for the voting process they should be given one position (probably the one they've played the most games at this season) and be eligible for only that position, with the exception of the utility player vote of course. It is unlikely, but not impossible that one player may win the vote at multiple positions. How bad would it look if Jacoby Ellsbury finished in the top two spots at all three OF positions? Again, I don't think it will happen, but the possibility shouldn't even exist.
The last thing isn't really any sort of complaint. It's more of a concern that no one can do anything about and only time will tell how it works out. Given that there are only 16 voters for this league I do wonder how well it will work out with so few voters and such a large ballot. I understand shrinking the ballot and lessening the number of players to vote on would be an incredibly difficult thing to do as so many players have had so many great seasons, but it is something to consider depending on how well the voting works out this season. This is basically our trial season so we can figure out if things work or not. Only having 16 voters does make me feel more strongly about having a point voting system, though. It would give each voter more votes to cast and it would create more of a gap between a player who gets a 1st place vote and a 3rd place vote as opposed to two players receiving an equal vote.
It's all your call, Tyler. I'm just here to offer my opinion and constructive criticism. I appreciate the work you've done putting the ballot together as well as the other things you've done for the league this year, but I do think the ballots you e-mailed to everyone need to be tweaked a little before we can officiallly vote. I think the players eligible at multiple positions must be given only one position of eligibility and I would like to see it have a points system rather than a vote for two players system. I may not be right, but in my opinion it would make things run smoother and be easier for you and everyone else in the long run.

Don't worry Adam, I'm sure you didn't win any awards. If people haven't turned their ballots in yet, though, I can't imagine they will anytime soon. Stuff like this is usually either done right away or not at all.

Not bad, not bad. Definitely some where I don't agree with my fellow voters. If possible, could we get access to the votes in their entirety. I'd like to see the entire final results. I'm especially curious to see how far off Mark Reynolds was at 3B. I have no idea how Evan Longoria got that many votes for 3B when he hasn't even been a top five 3B this year. Name recognition sure is something.
One quick thing, you also mixed up LF and RF. You accidently have Braun and Crawford under RF and Markakis and Dunn under LF when it's just the opposite. It's a minor mistake since we all know what you actually meant, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.

Thanks for voting me GM of the year....execpt my teams not really showing me off in the playoffs. Hopefully the 2nd week will be different and I can pull off the win.
