I've played out several different scenarios for the draft and I've come to the following conclusions: 1.) Finding a LFer in the first few rounds isn't easy and when you do it will cost you out the a**. In fact, breaking down the OF positions really threw a wrench in the works. 2.) As usual, I'm going to have trouble drafting with my head and not my heart. 3.) I really wish I had a 3rd Rd. pick. Picking last in the round and first in the next sucks in a way. 4.) You can look at all the stats, salaries and ADPs you want. If you don't know the tendencies and strategies of the people you are drafting with they mean absolutely nothing. 5.) Speaking of strategy; developing one for this draft has given me quite a few headaches. 6.) I'm thankful Stranglers was so generous. Yeah I gave up the #1 pick but right now the #1 and #4 minor is a nice ace in the hole. Finally, the hours of time researching, mock drafts, etc are probably going to be for naught. I'll revert to the "one pick at a time","best available player" routine before it's all said and done. But that's the fun of it......isn't it? Happy drafting and good luck to everyone except the person drafting just ahead of me!

Wow, you seem to have done a lot of research and put a lot of work into this. I can honestly say I've put maybe 20 minutes of research into this draft thus far. I'll probably do a little more once the draft gets started, but since it's going to take months to complete I've been lazy and haven't really thought about it very much yet. I figure there isn't much point since there is no way of knowing who will drop to you until you start drafting and we'll have hours if not days to react to players being taken, rather than the usual 60 seconds or so.
I figured CF would be harder to find than LF, but I haven't looked into it so I'll just take your word for it. Although, I can think of 6 or 7 LFs off the top of my head that are pretty good, so you must not like those guys.
Don't worry, I'll be sure to leave Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, and Edinson Volquez all to you...maybe. I certainly won't go out of my way to steal them anyway, so rest assured about that.

Just starting my planning right now.
Also, I was going tp make a draft comentary page but this one should do the trick so that's the reason for the name change.
One more thing, due to some bad snow tonight I will be on the road Monday and not be near a computer till around 4 p.m. Just a heads up in case the draft board does not get updated until then. Can't wait to get this thing underway.

Sounds good. Don't worry about the update, just make sure you drive carefully. I live in Michigan and have had to drive through my share of snowstorms and blizzards, it can get pretty treacherous out there.

Draft starts in a little under an hour, and what I would like to have happen is when drafting just post your pick in the round 1 thread.
EX: I click in the round one thread and start a new post
"The Atlanta Braves select 3B Chipper Jones ($5, or however much chipper costs.)
Thanks for keeping me on my toes ky.

Thanks Tyler for everything you've done. The offer still stands; if I can help in any way let me know. My work takes me out of town occasionally and Pipefitters don't stay at the Ritz so sometimes Internet access is limited. I will, however, be glad to help.

Tom, I'm still awaiting your witty response... Sorry, I'm a bit distracted and a little sleepy. Not on top of my game right now. You get a reprieve on this one.

Didn't you already say you were taking A-Rod, anyway? I'm pretty sure I read that on your trading block, in so many words.

Sorry, but you'll have to learn to be very patient, these things take months to complete. Most people have obligations to attend to (work, school, etc.) and I imagine most activity will be in the very early morning and the late afternoon/evening, the middle of the day should be pretty slow.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised at A-Rod at #2 overall.

There you go Tyler, now you get either Pujols or Reyes. Has to be a dream come true at #5 overall.

I really was only considering Pujols and ARod. Reyes is too one dimensional, Utley should be okay for the season opener but you never know, and I don't view Wright as being in ARod's class just yet. Obviously this is a win now move and I don't even plan on giving ARod the 5 year contract.

Obviously this is a win now move and I don't even plan on giving ARod the 5 year contract. I suspected as much. If I drafted A-Rod, I would only give a him a 2 or 3 year contract. Believe it or not, I didn't even consider Pujols at #3 overall. It sounds crazy, but I look at production relative to position. After A-Rod and Wright, there is a huge dropoff both in age and talent at 3B. After Hanley, Reyes, and maybe even Rollins, there is a huge dropoff in talent at SS. After Pujols, there are quite a handful of very good 1B. I was looking more long-term and wanted huge production from an incredibly weak position, so I took Wright. Especially since I consider 3B weaker than SS this year.

Yep, If not for the 2 util positions I may have taken reyes. the truth is the OPS category makes Pujols a must at the 4 spot.

On a seperate note, I've got a question about free agenecy (I know it may be a ways away). Are we going to use restricted free agents? For example, since I know have ARod, when he becomes a FA, will I have an opportunity to match the highest bid?
