Posistion scarcity was the primary reason why I went with ARod. On a seperate note, I've got a question about free agenecy (I know it may be a ways away). Are we going to use restricted free agents? For example, since I know have ARod, when he becomes a FA, will I have an opportunity to match the highest bid? I like the idea of a limited restricted free agency. Perhaps if the player becoming a free agent is a top 50 player or perhaps something like you get 2 or 3 'tags' per year to place on a player to make him a restricted free agent, giving you the option of matching offers. I know we have the franchise tag, but I always thought it kind of sucked that once a players contract runs out he's available to everyone in a free-for-all. It would make re-signing your players almost impossible. I understand that's kind of point, but the turnover on rosters would become pretty ridiculous. Turnover is nice, but it's also nice to be able to hang on to at least a handful of key players. On a completely unrelated topic, "free agent" is quite the misnomer isn't it? There is nothing "free" about them, if anything, they're ridiculously expensive.

Lol. It's okay, I wouldn't expect you to answer. Wouldn't be smart announcing who you want when there are a still a few picks to be made ahead of you.

What u guys think of that pick? Ooooh, what a bold and daring pick! I'll give you credit for having a pair, but this could easily backfire on you. It's not that Evan Longoria won't be good either, it's the fact that there were several far more proven players available to be drafted that you know will be good, not just hope will be good. There is also the possibility that you could've drafted him in the 2nd round, but we'll never know now. At the very least, he will be a very cheap player for you at a thin position and has the potential to grow into the #7 overall pick, although he isn't worth it at this point in his career. This draft has been interesting so far. We have one guy employing a short-term success strategy in drafting Alex Rodriguez and another guy employing a long-term success strategy in drafting Evan Longoria. We'll have to see what happens.

how do you plan to do that? draft a proven veteran core and then supplement it with high celing prospects and breakout studs?
